Why I love Classic Black & White Photos & You Should Too

I love black and white photos!! I love them so much because they strip away all the color and leave the bare bones. They remove the distractions and you are left with something that is really quite beautiful. I try in every single session to include at least 1 black and white photo, and I typically leave it toward the end, because I feel like it’s such a nice way to close a session. I think black and white pictures are so powerful, and there is an elegance to them.

I think black and white photos are also great because there is something simple about them. You can have 500 pictures that look nothing alike but make them all black and white and they tell a story. They can pull together, and this is why I love creating galleries in my home that are black and white. It is why my personal Instagram is completely black and white, and it goes great with everything.

Black and white pictures are also timeless. It makes it much harder to tell when the picture was taken and to be honest I kind of love this. It adds a level of mystery. Its sparks interest. I also love taking new pictures that are black and white, and putting them along older pictures that are also black and white.

Lastly, I love black and white because it is so forgiving. If I ever have a shoot, and the colors are off or distracting, I simply make it black and white and all my color issues are gone. Black and white is great if you don’t have great lighting or if the sun is too harsh. I also love that with black and white, you can play with the sun and the flares, and it can be a very dramatic effect. So I hope this helped you fall deeper in love with black and white photography!
