5 Tips On Posing & Getting Your Best Angles
Want to take a perfect picture but not sure how to pose yourself? Here is a guide on 5 simple things you can do so that you look amazing every time.
Use your hands to create shape in your body. You don’t want your hands to be straight at your side. This can cause you to look wider. Instead you want to create curves and shapes with your hands, and legs. Look at the picture below, notice the slight curve in the arm where the arrow is pointing. This curve helps create a shape. And then look at this leg. He has one leg behind the other and so his body is almost creating some curves.
2. If you are going to take a picture sitting down, make sure to sit on the edge. This helps you so that you are not creating rolls around your abdomen. Sit closer to the edge, and use your legs to help you create a shape.
3. Point those toes! It helps you look taller and makes your legs appear longer!
4. Don’t over-pose. Instead, you want to have a more natural pose. Not sure what to do? I always encourage people to walk. It gets you to loosen up, creates movement in your picture, and it can produce a variety of pictures. If you are with a friend or a spouse, do something fun! I will sometimes have couples dance or skip together. For friends, I will have them stare at each other without saying anything, and they usually end up laughing! Or I will have someone share an embarrassing story.
5. Don’t be afraid to get some candid moments. Sometimes the best pictures are those that are not posed. So have someone just take pictures of you throughout the day. Don’t strike a pose, instead simply just be yourself. Sometimes, these vulnerable moments can turn out to be the best pictures.
