How To Prepare For Your Portrait Session
So you have an upcoming portrait session ? Here are 5 things you can do to help prepare, and guarantee that you have an amazing session!
Go online to check out the type of session you are doing! If you are doing a solo portrait session, look it up online! Get an idea of what you like/don’t like. Find the poses you think will make you look good! Once you have some poses picked, try them out in the mirror! Find your best angles and figure out what works for you. This tip helps both you and the photographer! If you do find some poses that you love, send them to your photographer in advance!
Find the perfect outfit! Your outfit and the location can change the entire vibe of your session. If you want a warm feeling, wear warm colors. If you want a dark vibe, wear darker colors. Also keep in mind how your clothing will look in your particular location setting.
3. Get yourself in the right headspace. Listen to your favorite song or read some inspirational quotes! You want to walk in feeling your best! Because when you have confidence that translates into your images. So get your head right.
4. Be ready to loosen up at the shoot! Don’t stay in the same place. Move around and be ready to step outside of your comfort zone. I often have my clients dance or skip during a session. This helps you loosen up, and it helps us capture images with some movement!
5. Give yourself ample time! One of the worst things you can do is be in a rush the day of your session! It can throw you off your game and if you are running, it can cause you to be sweaty, which is not cute! So give yourself plenty of time. Use the bathroom, drink some water and make sure that you are comfortable. Wear something that you can move around in!
