I’m not the kind of photographer who just shows up, clicks a few pretty photos, and leaves. For me, photography is about connection. It’s about seeing people for who they really are and capturing the moments that matter most, the ones that happen in between the poses.

Here is everything you need to do to prepare for your portrait sessions! Here are all the things you need so you can have an amazing session every time!

Use your hands to create shape in your body. You don’t want your hands to be straight at your side. This can cause you to look wider. Instead you want to create curves and shapes with your hands, and legs. Look at the picture below, notice the slight curve in the arm where the arrow is pointing. This curve helps create a shape. And then look at this leg. He has one leg behind the other and so his body is almost creating some curves.

Some days, I have multiple sessions that I am trying to tackle whilst other days (such as today) I am working on my updating my website, and making sure I have content for my Instagram/Faceboook. Tomorrow I will likely be reviewing my contracts for clients to ensure that the process is as smooth as it can be for my client. So I will have to review the contract I have at this time, and then I will have do research to see if there is anything I can do to make it better. It is a constant game of trying to engage new clients, keep in touch with past clients, and also create work that is meaningful and exciting for me

I love them so much because they strip away all the color and leave the bare bones. They remove the distractions and you are left with something that is really quite beautiful. I try in every single session to include at least 1 black and white photo, and I typically leave it toward the end because I feel like its such a nice way to close a session. I think black and white pictures are so powerful, and there is an elegance to them.
